20 hearty souls/40 hearty soles showed up in spite of a light rain to the Los Angeles County Arboretum on Saturday, May 7, for the approximate 25th annual walk to benefit Friends Outside in Los Angeles County (FOLA), sponsored by the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Arcadia. This long-time event provides a wonderful opportunity for our two groups to come together in fellowship to support the Mission of FOLA while providing much-needed “unrestricted” funds in support of our work.
Included in the “formal” part of the program was a presentation by FOLA’s Executive Director Mary Weaver to Warden Kathy Warden, at Transfiguration, including a commendation that was signed by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich in recognition of the church’s long-term support of FOLA.The Reverend Julie D. Bryant, pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, always supports the walk and FOLA’s Mission! Our fearless (Walk) leader Howard Sears fuels himself for a walk with the peacocks and peahens, and people, too!
